KE'ANA RUNNELS

Ke'Ana says...

I am a teen model that truly understands what having beauty from the inside-out is. I aspire to be among the world's top models. I am focused and looking forward to all of the possibilities that modeling offers.

I believe that less is MORE!

I want to be a motivational speaker as well, using the beauty of modeling to motivate young people with low self esteem. I will also work closely with others diagnosed with neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, ataxia, and Parkinson's disease. Because I am a fighter and survivor, I want to share my hope with children living with illnesses. I fully support the Montell Williams MS Foundation. Thanks to Ms. Leslie Williams my story was featured in the Fort Bend section of the Houston Chronicle.

Ke’Ana Runnels,

Miss Teen Houston International 2010

My life as a model...

As a young model I have the opportunity to be a positive role model for young women that are victims of the images that television says that we must follow. I have worked with wonderful photographers that understand the seriousness of this issue. Modeling has given me something positive to hold on to and it has helped to improve my overall self-esteem.

My life as Miss Teen Houston...

Being named "Miss Teen Houston" has been an honor. I never thought that I would be in a pageant but I am proud to be a contestant of "Miss Teen Texas International". This pageant does not focus on beauty; it emphasizes the importance of community service and true self-esteem. My appearances allow me to meet awesome people and organizations that have a concern with being compassionate toward others.

Each year approximately 1,200 children uder the age of 20 are diagnosed with cancer in the state of Texas. Sadly, close to 200 will lose their fight against disease.

There is good news though! Thanks in large part to American Society-funded research, mortality rates have decreased steadily over the past three decades. What used to be a 58% survival rate is now at 81% and rising.
